Gas Production from the offshore Gulf of Mexico, located offshore Texas and Louisiana, has declined from 4.6 Bcf/d in 2000 to just 0.3 Bcf/d in 2020. Current natural gas focused drilling in the Gulf of Mexico is very limited due to the high cost relative to other basins. Only 110 wells have been drilled since 2010 with average new well initial productivity (IP) is 8 MMcf/d with average first year declines in 2017 of 53%. Incorrys does not expect Gulf of Mexico gas production to recover during the forecast period and is negligible by 2040.
