Montney and Duvernay are main producing plays in Western Canada. The chart shows how average total well depth in these play changed over last 10 years. The growth in total well depth is usually associated with increased length of laterals. Longer laterals may lead to increase well productivity. For example for Montney BC South area the length of laterals increased 10% since 2015, while in Montney BC North length of laterals increased on 19%.  Average total well depth is Montney is 16,000 ft. Duvernay is the deeper than Montney. The total well depth in Duvernay increased on 4% compared with 2015 and reached 18,500 ft.
