Opening: Target 2027 (company); Canadian official indicated 2028.
Cost: $8.8 billion.
Capacity: 2.1 mtpa (0.28 Bcf/d); 250,000 m³ storage; 100% offtake with BP.
Feed pipeline: Eagle Mountain–Woodfibre (~47 km, 24″) capacity ~0.28 bcf/d.
Location: Howe Sound near Squamish; via FortisBC transmission system.
Ownership: Pacific Energy Corporation (70%); Enbridge (30%).

In 2015–2016, Woodfibre LNG cleared fundamental regulatory hurdles: the Squamish Nation approved its Environmental Assessment (Oct 14, 2015), followed by the provincial EAO issuing the Environmental Assessment Certificate (Oct 26, 2015). The project committed early on to electrification using renewable hydroelectricity, abandoning gas-fired compressors in favor of lower emissions. In 2021–2022, Woodfibre gained traction—with BP signing a 15-year offtake for 100% output, and Enbridge taking a 30% ownership stake while engineering and construction advanced. By 2025, site work accelerated: foundation and marine pile installation progressed, and officials confirmed the facility should enter service around 2028, slightly later than the 2027 target previously cited by the company.
