Natural gas reserves of the top 5 countries (Tcm) 2010-2022 include Russia, Iran, Qatar, US and Turkmenistan.

• In 2022, the top 5 countries totaled 136 Tcm of natural gas reserves which represent about 2/3 of the global total of 206 Tcm.
• Russia has the largest natural gas reserve base at almost 50 Tcm – about 1/4 of the world total.
• They are followed by Iran with over 30 Tcm, and Qatar at about 25 Tcm.
• Of the top 5 countries, the US and Turkmenistan range between 15 and 20 Tcm each. Notice that the US reserves grew over the past few years driven by growth in Tight Sands and Shale basins.
